Unique and Special Home Based on a MCM Plan on 4+ Acres!

Once in a while life presents an opportunity that is far and few in between, and 1306 Meadowdale Rd is just one of those moments! 4 lush acres of manicured lawns and woods offer privacy and serenity, and hosts one of the coolest homes ever conceived. Based on a Mid-Century Modern house plan, this amazing home was built in 1986 and has been lovingly maintained and updated over the years.

This sprawling ranch basement offers iconic post and beam construction, with walls of glass and  glass doors which harmonize the indoor areas with the outdoor living and entertaining areas. Set back from the street, the central courtyard welcome guests to the light filled foyer of this home. Inside you will find vaulted and beamed ceilings and wood floors which add warmth, to open and flowing light filled spaces.

From the foyer, look right and into the ample dining room, which steps down two steps into the sunken spacious living room, with a stone fireplace and flanking bookcases. Both rooms lead to a stone terrace over looking a tranquil and stocked pond. From the foyer, look left into the large family room, which also offers a matching stone fireplace  and is open to the convenient and functional kitchen. The kitchen resides behind the foyer, between the family room and dining room and overlooks the rear yard. It features solid wood cabinetry topped by a solid surface counter, and offers a plentitude of counter and cabinet space. Appliances include a 48” smooth surface cooktop, refrigerator, dishwasher and trash compactor.

The Master Retreat is located in it’s own wing, just off of the living and dining room areas. The vaulted sleeping chamber is huge and offers a expansive wall of sliding glass doors to a private sleeping terrace. The renovated master bath invites you in for a spa experience with oversized shower, separate soaking tub and floating vanity with vessel sinks. Nearby is a large walk-in closet.

There are 3 additional bedrooms in another wing off of the family room. Each of these rooms has vaulted ceilings and sliding glass doors to either the pool terrace or a private terrace and are served by a updated hall bath.  Also just off of the family room is the drop zone area, leading to the over-sized double garage and stairs to the lower level. This level makes for a wonderful rec room, media room or man cave, has a large 5th bedroom with another large closet and another full bath.

From the family room, through sliding glass doors is a wonderful private enclosed pool terrace with in-ground swimming pool. A special place to entertain family and friends, to have a summer blast, or a late night romantic swim on a hot summer’s night!

Charlotte NC Most Modern Neighborhoods: The Cloisters

Although Charlotte, NC doesn't have any neighborhoods that are exclusively modern it does have few neighborhoods that have an above average concentration of mid-century modern homes and what is usually dubbed the atomic ranch.

The first in this neighborhood series:

The Cloisters - This enclave of homes off Providence Road about half way between  Sharon Road and Fairview.  The Cloisters consist of only three roads, a large loop around a pond called Cloister Drive, and two other roads, coming in to it, Pickwick, and Warrington.   A few of my favorite modern homes are in this neighborhood.  When you enter the neighborhood at the corner of Warrington and The Cloisters, 1818 Cloister Drive captures the fun of Modern with it's custom mod metal column to greet you.   Further down Cloister Drive other great homes are 2535 Cloister Drive  currently being restored by Bill and Sue Davis, and  The Solomon and Shirley Levine house at 2300 Clositer Dr. According to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Landmarks Commission, "The Cloisters is one of Charlotte's best preserved examples of upscale suburban landscape planning".
If you are looking for a Charlotte NC, MCM home located with other architecture lovers eheck out all the homes for sale in The Cloisters.
